Welcome to Community Midwives of Toronto! We very much look forward to working with you and your family during your pregnancy, birth and postnatal care.

There are midwives at our practice who are fluent in English, French  and Farsi.
We attend births at home, at the Toronto Birth Centre, and at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Community Midwives of Toronto is committed to providing an equitable, inclusive, safe environment for all, regardless of a person’s race, citizenship, place of origin, ethnic origin, colour, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, religion, family status, relationship status, immigration status, size or level of ability.

We understand that many racialized clients prefer to be cared for by a racialized midwife. At CMT, we make every effort to match clients with a midwife who reflects this preference. If you have a specific request for a care provider you can indicate this on our intake form. Lack of availability of a racialized midwife will not affect a client’s access to other midwives at our clinic. All of the midwives at CMT demonstrate their commitment to anti-racism and culturally competent care by actively engaging in ongoing personal reflection and professional training to address racism and privilege.

Community Midwives of Toronto was founded in 1994, the year midwifery was legislated in Ontario.

We are centrally located in Toronto at Bloor St. West and Spadina Ave, easily accessible by TTC from the Spadina station. There is an elevator and both wheelchair and stroller accessibility.

  • If you have a sore throat, runny nose, cough or fever OR you have had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, do NOT come into the midwifery clinic. Please leave a phone message stating why you are not coming in and your midwife will get back to you to discuss care.

  • Our midwives are doing both in-person clinic visits along with online video-conference visits to limit the need to go out during your pregnancy.
  • Clinic Visits
    • Please come alone to your visit, without partners or children.
    • Please arrive no earlier than five minutes prior to your appointment to limit exposure with other clients.
